With Conversion disorders, unconscious conflicts or stresses are changed (converted) into neurological signs.

This article, written by Onno van der Hart, Ph.D. and Kathy Steele, M.N., C.S,addresses the time disturbances DID patients may frequently and intensely experience. Pierre Janet analyzed these time disturbances in terms of degrees of perceived reality and distinguished two basic ways in which patients manifest their disturbance of reality and time sense. This distinction is utilized in discussing some ways in which DID patients may suffer time disturbances.
